Stephen Farnsworth, managing director, is one of the leading originators at Walker & Dunlop and manages the New Orleans office, which received the Top Conventional Seller award in the Southeast Region from Freddie Mac in 2016. Throughout his career, Mr. Farnsworth has originated over $7 billion in Agency and capital market loans.
Mr. Farnsworth joined Walker & Dunlop in February 2009 in conjunction with the acquisition of certain assets of Column Guaranteed and started his mortgage banking career with Standard Mortgage Corporation in 2002, which was acquired by Column Guaranteed in 2003.
Mr. Farnsworth focuses on conventional market rate, student, senior, and affordable multifamily loan origination through Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, HUD, bridge, life company, banks, and CMBS executions. Mr. Farnsworth leverages many of these same CMBS, Life Company and balance sheet lenders when sourcing loans on all commercial real estate asset classes. In addition, Mr. Farnsworth has extensive experience in structured finance, preferred equity, value-add, and moderate rehabilitation executions.
Mr. Farnsworth received a bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering at Clemson University and a master’s in real estate and construction management at the University of Denver.
Beyond the company, Mr. Farnsworth is a member of the Urban Land Institute (ULI) and chair of ULI Louisiana, where he has helped launch several initiatives including Urban Plan and a Small Scale Development Local Product Council for ULI Louisiana. In addition, Mr. Farnsworth is on the Advisory Board for Hibernia Bank in New Orleans.
Mr. Farnsworth currently lives in New Orleans with his wife, Amy and their sons Carter, Colin, and Simms.
