Ending Veteran and Chronic Homelessness with Community Solutions

At Walker & Dunlop, we are dedicated to providing housing. It’s not just a business for us, though - it’s a passion. Which is why we have built out a robust program aimed at corporate philanthropy. As part of our CSR initiatives, we have partnered with two incredible charities that work tirelessly to alleviate poverty and homelessness: Community Solutions and LIFT. Over the past four years, Walker & Dunlop has raised over $850,000 for LIFT and Community Solutions, including $250,000 in 2018 and $206,000 in 2017.

In this post, we’ll be spotlighting the incredible work done by Community Solutions – keep an eye out for Part 2 to learn more about LIFT.

Walker & Dunlop’s Women’s Initiative was honored to host Rosanne Haggerty, the President and Chief Executive Officer of Community Solutions, in our Bethesda office recently.

With a strong belief that homelessness is a result of systemic problems rather than just the affordable housing shortage, Rosanne has dedicated her career to combating homelessness.

Rosanne told the Walker & Dunlop team about Community Solutions’ Built for Zero campaign, a rigorous nationwide effort to end veteran and chronic homelessness in 70 communities and create a national tipping point to prove that ending homelessness is possible. Since its inception as 100,000 Homes in January 2015, Built for Zero has helped:

  • Provide homes for 98,200 chronically homeless individuals, including many veterans
  • 33 communities drive measurable monthly reductions in homelessness
  • 64 communities obtain the real-time data they need to end veteran and chronic homelessness using a multifaceted, holistic approach
  • End veteran homelessness in seven communities (Rockford, IL; Arlington, VA; Montgomery County, MD; Fort Myers, FL; Gulfport, MS, Riverside, CA and Norman, OK)
  • End chronic homelessness in three communities (Bergen County, NJ, Lancaster, PA, and Rockford, IL)

Walker & Dunlop’s CSR program and Community Solutions – a perfect fit!

Walker & Dunlop is proud to partner with Community Solutions to support Rosanne’s vision of ending veteran and chronic homelessness.
