Managing Director
With nearly 30 years of industry experience, Capital Markets Managing Director Alfie Means joined Walker & Dunlop as part of the company’s acquisition of iCap Realty Advisors in November 2018. Based out of Atlanta, Georgia, Mr. Means is responsible for overseeing his local team’s origination activities and spearheading the Capital Markets team’s growth in the Atlanta area. Mr. Means has extensive experience in capital markets lending and knowledge regarding life insurance capital providers.
In his previous position as Principal at iCap Realty Advisors, Mr. Means led a team that historically originated between $700 million and $1 billion of annual brokered volume through a broad range of capital providers. In addition to overseeing his team’s activities, Mr. Means’ responsibilities included loan and equity joint venture production, lender relations, and loan servicing for all property types. Mr. Means joined iCap Realty Advisors in 1998, becoming a full partner in 2000.
Prior to his time at iCap, Mr. Means’ previous positions include Vice President at First Fidelity Mortgage Corporation and Commercial Loan Officer for Wachovia Bank’s real estate finance group. Having begun his career on the lender side of the transaction in 1990, Mr. Means brings a unique perspective to commercial real estate finance.
Mr. Means holds a postgraduate degree in economics from the University of Sussex in England and a Bachelor of Science in management from the Georgia Institute of Technology.
Beyond the company, Mr. Means chairs the annual RPM 911 race for the Shepherd Center SHARE Military Initiative – a rehabilitation program for servicemen and women who have sustained a brain injury and PTSD from the Afghanistan and Iraqi conflicts. He also serves Buckhead Lions Club, the Chastain Park Conservancy, the American Legion Post 140, and he coaches youths at Buckhead Baseball.
