Brian Kaufman, Vice President, is based in Walker & Dunlop’s Sacramento, California office and is responsible for providing debt financing solutions to commercial real estate developers and owners throughout the United States. Mr. Kaufman has nearly 20 years of industry experience and has been involved in the origination of over $1 billion of debt and equity placements for nearly 200 transactions. He has a deep knowledge of Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, HUD, life company, and bridge lending, as well as capital markets lenders, and in 2017, he was named a top producer by Symetra, a life company lending correspondent. In addition to conventional multifamily properties, he has significant experience with specialized asset classes, including new construction, LEED-certified properties, and affordable housing.
Before joining Walker & Dunlop, Mr. Kaufman served as Director at George Elkins Mortgage Banking Company, where he was responsible for spearheading the growth of the firm and successfully opened its Northern California office in Sacramento. In addition to his strategic responsibilities in this role, he originated loans for all property types through institutional, life company, and private debt sources. Mr. Kaufman also worked at Waller, Kaufman & Sutter in Sacramento, California, where he arranged institutional and private debt and provided commercial entitlement and development management services.
Mr. Kaufman graduated from Willamette University in Salem, Oregon with a Bachelor of Science in business economics and a minor in rhetoric and media studies. Mr. Kaufman has been a licensed salesperson with the California Department of Real Estate since 2001.
