about Douglas Bates

Douglas Bates is a Senior Director of Capital Markets based in Kansas City, MO. In his role, he is responsible for the production of commercial real estate finance transactions. Mr. Bates has extensive experience working on acquisitions, refinances, construction loans, and structured finance, including debt and equity, on all asset types, including multifamily, office, industrial, retail, self-storage, Historic Tax Credits, Low-Income Housing Tax Credits, seniors housing, student housing, and manufactured housing. Capital sources include Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, FHA, life insurance companies, CMBS, debt funds and banks.

Prior to Walker & Dunlop, Mr. Bates worked as a vice president at Grandbridge Real Estate Capital for 15 years, where he was responsible for the origination of commercial and multifamily loans and sourcing equity for real estate transactions.

Mr. Bates earned his bachelor's degree in journalism from the University of Missouri- Columbia and his master's degree in business administration-finance from the University of Missouri-Kansas City. He serves on the board for the Kansas City Chapter of CCIM and is an active member of the Mortgage Bankers Association (MBA) and Urban Land Institute (ULI). He also serves as a KC CAN! and Horizon Academy board member. Mr. Bates lives in Lee’s Summit, MO with his wife and two children.
