about Stephen Erwin

Mr. Erwin joined WDIP in 2018. As the firm’s Chief Legal and Compliance Officer, he is responsible for compliance and legal oversight of the company. Prior to joining WDIP, Mr. Erwin was the founder and Managing Member of Highlander Compliance Consulting, LLC, an investment advisory regulatory compliance consulting and outsourced CCO firm servicing complex private equity, real estate fund, and hedge fund managers. In this capacity, he served as CCO and consultant of several real estate private equity fund managers, hedge funds, and a dynamic asset allocation ETF complex.

Mr. Erwin was also founder and managing partner of The Highlander Law Firm, LLC, where Mr. Erwin’s practice focused on providing general counsel and regulatory compliance advice to a broad range of investment advisors and private fund managers, as well as complex financial and investment structuring and transactions for film, television, music, and digital media clients. Mr. Erwin also managed his own investment advisory practice through Aveo Capital Partners, LLC, providing wealth management and financial planning services to high net worth entertainment industry individuals and families. Prior to Highlander, Mr. Erwin was a member of Scheid, Cleveland & Fein, LLC, a boutique commercial transactions and litigation law firm in Denver, Colorado, where he focused on investment advisory compliance, commercial transactions, entertainment law, and litigation.  Earlier in his career, Mr. Erwin was General Counsel and CCO of Tactical Allocation Services, LLC, in Boulder, Colorado, which managed several multi-strategy hedge fund of funds vehicles and provided wealth management and financial planning for high net worth individuals and families and institutional clients.

Mr. Erwin holds a in B.S. in accounting from the University of Wisconsin-Madison; a Juris Doctorate, cum laude, from the Florida State University College of Law. He also holds a an A.S. Degree in music business and audio production from Full Sail University and a FINRA Series 65 license. Mr. Erwin is a member of the Colorado Bar.
