Craig West is a senior managing director of Capital Markets | Real Estate Finance at Walker & Dunlop and is based in Atlanta, Georgia. In this role, West is responsible for multifamily originations through the firm’s Agency lending programs. Throughout his career, he has originated more than $21 billion in transactions and brings 30 years of experience in the direct origination of Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, and life insurance multifamily mortgage loans. Since 2011, West and his team have originated more than $1 billion on average annually and have recieved Fannie Mae's Top Originator award.
Prior to joining Walker & Dunlop, West served as managing director at CWCapital and as senior vice president within the Agency lending group of Column Guaranteed, a Credit Suisse subsidiary. Before entering the real estate industry, he was a certified public accountant and senior tax consultant with Ernst & Young.
West earned a bachelor’s degree from Florida State University. He serves on the board of directors of the National Multifamily Housing Council and is a trustee on the board of directors of Homes Fit for Heroes. He is a member of Peachtree Presbyterian Church, where he participates in IRONMEN, a men’s fellowship program. West mentors high school and college students, providing financial support and professional development. He has partnered with the Thompson Island Outward Bound Education Center, is a Florida State University Legacy Hall member, and is a five-year member of Tiger 21.
