Tom Peters, senior vice president, is responsible for originating and underwriting FHA and affordable housing transactions in the Western region of the United States. Mr. Peters has more than 25 years of experience in the mortgage banking business.
Prior to joining Walker & Dunlop, Mr. Peters was at CWCapital LLC, where he was responsible for managing the offices located in the Western region and originated, underwrote and closed more than $250 million of loans annually, specializing in FHA multifamily and healthcare lending since 1987.
Throughout his career, Mr. Peters has worked closely with HUD to make improvements to their programs and closed HUD’s first assisted living transaction in 1991. He also worked with HUD’s office in Seattle to develop a fast track program, which was enhanced and became Seattle Fast Track 2.0. Mr. Peters spent a majority of his time developing the 323 LEAN process and holds the distinction of closing the first LEAN deal, five days after the program received approval.
Previously, Mr. Peters conducted mortgage banking activities at ICA, originating hotel and commercial loans for life companies and pension plans. Mr. Peters has been a panelist on numerous multifamily and healthcare lending seminars on a local and regional basis.
Additionally, Mr. Peters runs an active construction company, developing single-family subdivisions, building homes and multifamily projects and most recently, specializing in energy-efficient homes.
Mr. Peters is an active farmer and is currently developing a 350-acre vineyard and winery that boasts all-solar energy for buildings and irrigation.
