SVP of Internal Communications

Niambi Winter

Niambi Winter is Senior Vice President of Internal Communications at Walker & Dunlop. Since joining W&D in June 2021, Niambi has led the successful execution of internal communication strategies for several change management initiatives, including three major acquisitions, and a culturally critical in-person all-company retreat following the COVID-19 pandemic.

In her day-to-day role, Niambi provides strategic communications counsel to executives and other senior leaders across the Company. She also leads the team responsible for implementing a comprehensive communications strategy that inspires all employees to drive W&D forward by bringing our brand to life, delivering for our clients, and realizing our mission.

With 20 years of professional experience and a passion for employee communications and engagement, Niambi has held several corporate communications roles in the global health, higher education, financial services, and technology industries. She began her career in television production at ABC News in New York before making the transition to the corporate world, and she credits that early experience for giving her the ability to pivot and adapt quickly, execute under pressure, deliver on deadline, connect with people of all backgrounds, and work collaboratively as a team – skills that have served her well over the years.

Prior to joining Walker & Dunlop, Niambi worked as Director of Internal Communications for education technology company Anthology (formerly Blackboard), where she led the development, execution, and evaluation of the company's internal communications and engagement strategy for its 1500+ global workforce. Prior to that, she worked in corporate communications at Edelman Financial Engines (formerly Edelman Financial Services), where she helped the leadership team navigate a merger that doubled the company’s size.

Niambi’s expertise as a communications strategist and engagement enthusiast have afforded her career-affirming opportunities to drive transformative change in the workplace, in partnership with everyone from C-Suite executives and business line leaders to front-line managers and individual contributors. An ambitious achiever at heart, Niambi has a strong track record of offering unique perspectives, piloting new approaches, creating added value, producing exceptional work, and delivering desired outcomes.

Niambi holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications from Howard University and maintains a strong commitment to cultivating an equitable, inclusive, and psychologically safe experience for all employees from wherever she sits to wherever they are.
