Training Academy
Project Destined
The Walker & Dunlop Training Academy, powered by Project Destined, is a year-round program preparing students for careers in commercial real estate. Developed with guidance from Walker & Dunlop leadership, the curriculum is curated to build the skills students need to succeed in the industry.
Fall programming runs October through December across five courses, outlined below. Students who complete the program earn a Walker & Dunlop Training Academy Certificate of Completion, recognizing their commercial real estate training and readiness for future opportunities in the industry.
Financial Modeling: Income-Producing Assets
October 6th, 13th, 20th, 2026
Core underwriting for stabilized and value-add properties, covering pro forma construction, exit and rate sensitivity analysis, and IRR analysis, the foundational modeling skills used to underwrite commercial real estate deals.
Financial Modeling: Development & Construction
October 27th, November 3rd, 10, 2026
Ground-up development and construction lending fundamentals, covering sources and uses, development budgets, construction draw schedules, and IRR analysis across the development hold period.
Affordable Housing Financing & Underwriting
October 29th, November 5th, 12th, 2026
A specialist deep dive into affordable housing underwriting, covering LIHTC structuring, debt sizing off restricted rents, HAP contracts, and preservation financing strategies unique to the sector.
Financial Modeling: Capital Structure & Structuring
November 17th, December 1st, 8th, 2026
Advanced deal structuring, covering equity waterfalls, joint venture promote structures, and preferred equity and mezzanine debt modeling used to align risk and return across investors.
AI Fundamentals featuring Claude
November 19th, December 3rd, 10th, 2026
A hands-on introduction to applying AI tools like Claude in real estate workflows, covering practical use cases such as market research, deal analysis, and document review to boost efficiency in the industry.
