Dan O’Keefe is a senior vice president of internal audit at Walker & Dunlop and is based in Bethesda, Maryland. In this role, he oversees the company’s Internal Audit department and supervises its functions, which include assessing the design and operating effectiveness of internal controls and ensuring that the company’s risk management and governance practices function properly.

Prior to joining Walker & Dunlop, O’Keefe was a director in PwC’s Banking and Capital Markets Practice, where he gained more than 15 years of experience in the financial services industry, specializing in mortgage finance. This included significant experience leading assurance and consulting engagements for public and private banks, lenders, mortgage finance companies, and investment companies. Through those engagements, O’Keefe developed expertise in finance transformation, complex financial transactions, technical accounting, and internal controls.

O’Keefe earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting and finance from the University of Maryland, College Park, and is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA). Outside the company, he is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA), and the Mortgage Bankers Association (MBA).
