Jeff Schmidt is a director of Capital Markets | Real Estate Finance at Walker & Dunlop and is based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. In this role, Schmidt is responsible for financing income-producing properties including office, apartment, industrial, hospitality, and retail assets throughout the region. With more than 20 years of commercial real estate finance experience, he has structured permanent, construction, bank, bridge, mezzanine, and equity financings and has recently focused on sourcing conventional bank and HUD construction financing for historic tax credit redevelopments.
Prior to joining Walker & Dunlop, Schmidt served as an assistant vice president at Grandbridge Real Estate Capital in a similar financing role. Earlier in his career, he worked as a development associate at Dominium Development & Acquisition, LLC beginning in 2003, where he participated in the development of market-rate and Section 42 Low-Income Housing Tax Credit multifamily properties throughout the Midwest.
Schmidt earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration in real estate and urban land economics from the University of Wisconsin–Madison School of Business. He is a member of the National Association for Industrial and Office Parks, the Mortgage Bankers Association, the Wisconsin Real Estate Alumni Association, and Historic Milwaukee, Inc.
