Jim Pierson is a managing director of Capital Markets | Real Estate Finance at Walker & Dunlop and is based in Phoenix, Arizona. In this role, Pierson is responsible for nationwide loan origination and focuses on financing multifamily, office, retail, and industrial properties. He brings more than 32 years of commercial real estate finance experience and has originated more than $5 billion in loans throughout his career.

Prior to joining Walker & Dunlop, Pierson served as co-founder and principal of Legacy Capital Advisors, where he provided capital advisory services including mortgage banking, mortgage brokerage, and direct mortgage lending. He has been active in the Phoenix market since 1990 and has served as a direct Fannie Mae DUS lender and a Freddie Mac seller and servicer, while also representing national life insurance companies, HUD, and structured finance lenders.

Pierson earned a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Mississippi in 1989. He chaired the Urban Land Institute Phoenix Trends Day in 2017 and has served on the board of directors for the Arizona Multihousing Association, the National Association for Industrial and Office Parks, Ryan House, and the Foundation for Blind Children. He has also served on the Parent Advisory Committee at the Translational Genomics Research Institute.
