Katie Runyan is a managing director of Capital Markets | Real Estate Finance at Walker & Dunlop and is based in Atlanta, Georgia. In this role, she specializes in multifamily loan originations across a broad range of asset types nationwide, arranging senior debt, supplemental debt, and equity placements through Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, life insurance companies, debt funds, and HUD. She has more than 20 years of commercial real estate finance experience and has been directly involved in more than $18 billion of loan financings throughout her career.
Prior to joining Walker & Dunlop, Runyan served as a vice president at CWCapital, where she specialized in multifamily loan originations. Before that, she was a multifamily underwriter at Column Guaranteed, a subsidiary of Credit Suisse.
Runyan earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration with a concentration in finance from Southern Methodist University. She serves as advisor to the Women of Walker & Dunlop Leadership, Education, Advocacy Programs Committee and previously served as advisor to the Women of Walker & Dunlop Industry Involvement and Leadership Committee, as well as co-chair and co-founder of the Best Practices and Leadership Committee for Walker & Dunlop’s Women’s Initiative. She is a member of the National Multifamily Housing Council, where she served on the Emerging Leaders Committee from 2023 to 2025 and currently serves on the NMHC PAC Committee, and is also a member of the Mortgage Bankers Association. She received Connect CRE's Atlanta & Southeast Women in Real Estate Award in 2021, was named one of Fannie Mae's Top 5 Affordable Originators in 2022, and received GlobeSt.'s Woman of Influence Award in 2024. Runyan also serves on the board of the Kyle Pease Foundation and supports Children's Healthcare of Atlanta.
