Mark Strauss

Mark Strauss, managing director, capital markets, has over three decades of commercial real estate finance experience and joined Walker & Dunlop in December, 2016. Mr. Strauss is responsible for managing the origination, analysis, and placement of real estate debt and equity throughout the United States and is based out of the Irvine, California office.

Prior to joining Walker & Dunlop, Mr. Strauss was a 15-year veteran and founding member of Cohen Financials’ equity practice group. During his career, Mr. Strauss arranged various forms of debt and equity for over 23,000 apartment units, seven million square feet of industrial and office space, and over three million square feet of retail space. Prior to Cohen, Mr. Straus spent 12 years at Marcus and Millichap, during which time he was a regional manager for the Orange County operation and a pioneer in their single tenant net leased division. Before joining Marcus, Mr. Strauss was a principal in a firm that specialized in tax shelter syndications in the multifamily and office building sectors.

Mr. Strauss holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.

Beyond the company, Mr. Strauss has been an active member of ICSC, is on the executive committee of Project Access, a non -profit focused on providing social services to affordable housing communities, and serves as a mentor to MBA students at the University of California Irvine.
