Matt Shannon is a senior director of Capital Markets | Real Estate Finance at Walker & Dunlop and is based in Austin, Texas. In this role, he is responsible for nationwide new loan originations, focusing on sourcing multifamily loans through Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, FHA, and the firm’s proprietary bridge loan executions. He has more than 12 years of multifamily experience, ranging from single-asset financings to large structured and portfolio transactions. Throughout his career, he has participated in the origination of more than $3.7 billion in loan volume nationwide across market-rate, affordable, student, seniors, and manufactured housing properties.

Prior to his current role, Shannon began his career at Walker & Dunlop within the firm’s GSE underwriting department, where he underwrote more than $1.5 billion in loan volume. Before transitioning into production in 2019, he advanced through multiple roles within the firm’s real estate finance platform.

Shannon earned a bachelor’s degree in business economics from Brown University, where he was a member of the football team. Outside of Walker & Dunlop, he is an active supporter of the National Marrow Donor Program.
