Michael Liefer is a managing director of Multifamily Finance at Walker & Dunlop, based in Chicago, IL. In his role, he is responsible for originating multifamily capital though Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, HUD, banks, life companies, and debt funds.  Throughout his 20+ year career, Mr. Liefer has structured billions of dollars of permanent, construction, bridge, and preferred equity.

Prior to joining Walker & Dunlop in 2011, Mr. Liefer was vice president of acquisitions for Banner Apartments, a real estate investment firm in Northbrook, Illinois. During his tenure, Mr. Liefer was responsible for the sourcing, underwriting, and financing of multifamily properties nationwide. Mr. Liefer began his career as a Series 7/63 licensed equity broker at FBR Capital Markets & Co., an Arlington, Virginia investment bank.

Mr. Liefer earned his bachelor’s degree in marketing and supply chain management from Michigan State University.
