Pat Dempsey is a senior managing director of Capital Markets | Real Estate Finance at Walker & Dunlop and is based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. In this role, Dempsey is responsible for originating and placing debt and equity financing for commercial real estate transactions nationwide. He has specific expertise in student housing, construction and permanent financing for multifamily developments, and GSA construction and permanent financing. Throughout his career, he has completed more than $7 billion in permanent, construction, structured debt, and equity placements and has consistently ranked among the firm’s top originators.

Prior to joining Walker & Dunlop, Dempsey served as a principal and partner at Collateral Real Estate Capital, where he helped grow the firm into a leading mortgage banking platform before its sale to BB&T. Before that, he held roles as senior vice president at Grandbridge Real Estate Capital, director at L.J. Melody & Company, and with Beacon Realty Capital, where he focused on the origination, placement, and closing of debt and equity transactions nationwide.

Dempsey earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration and a master’s degree in real estate appraisal and investment analysis from the University of Wisconsin–Madison. He is a member of the Mortgage Bankers Association.
