Patrick Smith is a director of EMEA Capital Markets at Walker & Dunlop, based in London. In his role, he is responsible for commercial real estate debt advisory as well as back-leverage advisory throughout the U.K. and Europe. Mr. Smith has more than a decade of real estate finance experience in both Europe and the U.S.
Before joining Walker & Dunlop, Mr. Smith worked on the securitized products and structured finance desk at NatWest Markets, where he structured and executed commercial real estate loan-on-loan facilities for private credit fund clients. Prior to that, he was part of the EMEA Debt and Structured Finance team at JLL, where he worked with institutional and private equity sponsors to source asset-level financing within the U.K. and EMEA across all major real estate sectors, jurisdictions, and business plans. Earlier in his career, he worked for other firms in the U.S., including Greystone, Barclays, and Morgan Stanley, in roles such as CMBS trading and structuring and multifamily loan origination.
Mr. Smith earned his bachelor’s degree in computer science from the University of Kent. He holds a Master of Business Administration with a concentration in capital markets and asset management from the Cornell Johnson Graduate School of Management, as well as a master’s degree in finance from the London Business School.
