Sheri Thompson is the executive vice president and head of Affordable Housing at Walker & Dunlop. In her role, she oversees all aspects of Walker & Dunlop’s affordable housing activities. Thompson played a critical role in developing W&D’s vision for a comprehensive affordable platform and assembling the businesses and experts to provide a full range of affordable solutions. She has oversight and P&L responsibilities for these businesses, including GSE and FHA debt, LIHTC equity, affordable development, affordable bridge lending, and affordable investment sales.
Thompson sits on the company’s Executive Committee and is actively engaged in Walker & Dunlop’s social impact and legislative initiatives. She also provides executive sponsorship for the Unidos employee resource group and is active with the Women of Walker & Dunlop and Veterans employee resource groups.
Previously, Thompson spent two years also overseeing Walker & Dunlop Investment Partners (WDIP), including its fundraising and investment activities. Earlier in her career, she held underwriting and credit leadership roles at Green Park Financial, Red Capital Group, and PGIM Real Estate Finance’s Agency Lending Group, where she served as chief operating officer.
Thompson holds a Bachelor of Science in business administration from The Pennsylvania State University. She is involved in multiple industry organizations and initiatives including the Mortgage Bankers Association (MBA), where she sits on the MBA’s Commercial Real Estate Multifamily Finance Board of Governors (COMBOG). She is also active with NMHC, where she serves on NMHC’s Workforce Housing Committee and is a past- chairman of NMHC’s Diversity and Inclusion Committee. She is also a member of the Urban Land Institute (ULI) Multifamily Bronze Council and a member of ULI’s Women’s Leadership Initiative (WLI). Thompson also serves on several non-profit boards and is a board member of Veritas Impact Partners, an organization that provides social services to workforce housing communities. Additionally, she serves on the board for Code of Support Foundation, a nonprofit organization that serves U.S. Service Members, Veterans, and their Families.
