Daniel Barone is a senior director of FHA Finance | Production at Walker & Dunlop and is based in Charleston, South Carolina. In this role, Barone is responsible for senior housing, skilled nursing, and hospital financing through HUD, bridge financing, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, and alternative financing structures. Throughout his 15-year career, he has underwritten more than $1 billion in HUD Section 232 loans and has extensive expertise in healthcare real estate finance.

Prior to his current role, Barone served in senior underwriting leadership positions within Walker & Dunlop’s FHA finance group, including senior vice president and chief underwriter and vice president and senior underwriter. Before that, he served as vice president and senior underwriter at Capital One, where he underwrote healthcare transactions for the HUD Section 232 LEAN program. Earlier in his career, he focused on FHA and bridge healthcare real estate financing at Capital Funding Group.

Barone earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting and finance from William Paterson University of New Jersey. He previously served as director of finance for the Healthcare Mortgagee Advisory Council, a nonprofit organization that partners with HUD on program education and improvements. He resides in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, with his wife and their two sons.
