Michael Brown is a managing director of Capital Markets Institutional Advisory at Walker & Dunlop and is based in New York City. In this role, he is responsible for sourcing and structuring debt and equity financing across all commercial real estate asset classes nationwide. With nearly 25 years of industry experience, Brown brings a deep background in credit, lending, capital markets and principal investment to his advisory work with institutional clients.
Prior to Walker & Dunlop, Brown was head of real estate at S2K Asset Management, where he led the firm's real estate platform, including investment strategy, acquisitions, development and asset management. He also oversaw offerings advised by the firm's broker-dealer affiliate. Before that, Brown was a senior managing director at Cantor Fitzgerald and part of the founding team of Cantor Commercial Real Estate (CCRE), where he helped oversee about $25 billion in loan originations and capital markets transactions through 2018. Earlier in his career, he worked at Credit Suisse, where he was a member of the origination team and contributed to the firm's loan portfolio and execution. During his time there, he was involved in structuring, underwriting, and managing complex financings across the capital stack, tailored for capital markets execution. Brown began his career at Fitch Ratings, where he focused on CMBS credit risk analysis.
Brown earned a bachelor's degree in hotel administration from Cornell University.
