Michael Brown is a managing director of Capital Markets | Institutional Advisory at Walker & Dunlop and is based in New York, New York. In this role, he is responsible for sourcing and structuring debt and equity financing across all commercial real estate asset classes nationwide. With nearly 25 years of industry experience, Brown brings a background in credit, lending, capital markets, and principal investment to his advisory work with institutional clients.
Prior to joining Walker & Dunlop, Brown served as head of real estate at S2K Asset Management, where he led the firm’s real estate platform, including investment strategy, acquisitions, development, and asset management, and oversaw offerings advised by the firm’s broker-dealer affiliate. Before that, he was a senior managing director at Cantor Fitzgerald and a member of the founding team of Cantor Commercial Real Estate, where he helped oversee approximately $25 billion in loan originations and capital markets transactions through 2018. Earlier in his career, he worked at Credit Suisse on the origination team, contributing to loan portfolio growth and execution, and began his career at Fitch Ratings focusing on CMBS credit risk analysis.
Brown earned a bachelor’s degree in hotel administration from Cornell University.
