about Jacob Cohen

Jacob Cohen, Director, is responsible for providing financing solutions to commercial real estate developers and owners throughout the United States. Over the course of his career, Mr. Cohen has been involved with underwriting and placing over $2 billion in transaction volume and joined Walker & Dunlop in January 2017 as a result of the Deerwood Real Estate Capital (Deerwood) acquisition. Mr. Cohen has closed deals in over 20 states and has a broad understanding of office, hospitality, retail, multifamily, and industrial properties.

Prior to joining Walker & Dunlop, Mr. Cohen began his career as a loan underwriter for Skycap Funding, where he proposed and implemented new procedures for underwriting business loans. He later joined Lightstone Group as an acquisitions intern, then moved onto Deerwood as an underwriter and then producer. During his tenure at Deerwood, Mr. Cohen was tasked with the origination, underwriting, and placement of hundreds of loans across all asset classes throughout the United States.

Mr. Cohen received his MBA in finance from Bar Ilan University and his bachelor’s degree in liberal arts from Excelsior College.
